Slovakia's construction output fell 0.4% year-on-year in February, easing sharply from a 10% decline in the previous month, data released by the Bratislava-based Slovak Statistical Office (SÚSR) showed on Thursday.

It was the third consecutive month of contraction but the softest in the sequence, as domestic production decreased at a lesser extent (-1.2% vs -8.4), due to smaller declines from new construction (-1.1% vs -12.1%), buildings (-0.5% vs -8%), and engineering works (-3.2% vs -9.7%), while output growth slowed for repair & maintenance (0.9% vs 3.4%).

At the same time, construction abroad rebounded significantly (8.1% vs -25%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output rose 5.4% in February, accelerating from a 0.1% rise in the prior month.
