King Charles plans solar panel farm at Sandringham

The project, part of the King’s commitment to tackling climate change, would mean the estate produces its own green energy

“Dealing with this is a job for us all,” King Charles said of climate change last year. “Change will come by working together and making it easier to embrace decisions that will sustain our world, rather than carry on as though there are no limits,” he told world leaders in Dubai.

The King is now putting that spirit into practice closer to home, with plans for a significant solar farm at his Sandringham estate.

Environmentalists who have worked with Charles said the project showed his understanding of the need for renewable electricity and was in line with his “forward thinking” on green issues. Energy industry figures said that the move was an endorsement of solar power’s potential in the UK.
