Jennifer Hudson
Jennifer Hudson is an American singer and actress. She rose to fame in 2004 as a finalist on season 3 of
American Idol
. In 2006, Hudson starred in
Dreamgirls
and won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe award for her performance. Hudson won her first Grammy Award in 2009 for best R&B album; her second Grammy win came in 2016 for her work on
The Color Purple
musical album. In 2021, Hudson portrayed Aretha Franklin in the musical drama
Respect
. Following her performance in the film, Hudson was named entertainer of the year at the 53rd annual NAACP Image Awards.
