Two people sustained minor injuries on Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of West Main Street and 12th Street in Wytheville.
According to the Wytheville Police Department, 34-year-old Adam Casey Spencer and his 8-year-old daughter were taken to Wythe County Community Hospital for treatment following the 12:21 p.m. collision.
Police said Spencer was traveling west on Main Street went he went through a red light and hit a vehicle heading south on West Lee Highway. Spencer’s vehicle overturned and trapped him inside.
His daughter, who was wearing a seatbelt, had been removed from the vehicle and was sitting with bystanders when police arrived.
Wytheville Fire and Rescue had to free Spencer.
The driver of the other vehicle, 74-year-old Daniel Bowman Gordon of Wytheville, wasn’t injured. Police said he was wearing a seatbelt.

Spencer was charged with failing to obey a traffic light and failing to wear a seatbelt.
State police probe death, injury in Little CreekThe Virginia State Police is still investigating a death and serious injury at residence in the 9200 block of Little Creek Highway in Bland County.
Police responded to the residence on April 8 and found a deceased adult female and an unresponsive adult male inside.
Following an autopsy, the female was identified as 87-year-old Mildred D. Matz. The male, whom police didn’t name, was flown to a Roanoke hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Police said the death and injury didn’t appear to be suspicious.
The VSP is working with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management to examine the residence for any hazardous environmental factors that may have contributed to this incident, police said.
