A blood testing clinic, sponsored by the Wapakoneta Rotary Club in cooperation with Lima Memorial Lab Services, is set for Saturday from 6:30-9:30 a.m. at the Grand Plaza Banquet Hall at 913 Defiance St.
Annual blood screenings are key to early detection and prevention of disease. Sponsoring this clinic is an important community service the Rotary Club has offered for years, said Rotarian Phillip Schlenker, long-time chairman of the event.
A general health screen is available for $40 and does require a 12-hour fast. Other tests available for the noted charge are thyroid screen at $15; diabetes screen, $15; prostate cancer screen, $40; Vitamin D screen, $40; uric acid screen, $15; iron screen; $15 and Hepatitis C screen, $40.
“Every year we hear from or about someone who was screened and was able to address a serious health problem he or she wouldn’t have known about it wasn’t for the blood testing,” Schlenker said. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of this service we can provide locally, at a low cost to help keep our community healthy.”
