Guy Fieri has been the “Mayor of Flavortown” on TV screens for years. Now he is finally a mayor in real life.

During the Friday, April 5 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew Barrymore had a major surprise for the Tournament of Champions host.

“Guy, you are known as the ‘Mayor of Flavortown’ but we thought wouldn’t it be fun if you were actually a mayor,” the actress excitedly said at the end the episode. “So we reached out to your hometown of Ferndale, California and they have a little surprise for you.”

A video recording of Randall Cady, the mayor of Ferndale, Calif. popped up on the screen. While addressing Fieri, Cady share his respect for the celebrity chef.

“I’d like to let you know how much your presence, concerns and contributions to our community is appreciated,” he said. “So, from your hometown, I would like to make this proclamation declaring April 5, 2024: Guy Fieri honorary mayor of Ferndale Day.”

Fieri was born in Columbus, Ohio but grew up in Ferndale, where he still owns a home with his wife and sons.

The Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives star smiled ear-to-ear while listening to Cady but looked aghast upon hearing the news of Guy Fieri Day. Barrymore proved the validity of the announcement and presented Fieri with an official document from the town.

Looking tenderly at the proclamation, Fieri told the 50 First Dates star, “I have been outdone in my own game a few times but you, there you go girl, just took it, didn’t you? You just went next level on me."

He continued and gave Barrymore a hug, “This means so much. You’re the sweetest.”

The Tournament of Champions finale airs Sunday, April 7 at 8 p.m. ET on Food Network.
