Brattleboro man dies following October assault

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (WCAX) - A Brattleboro man who had been hospitalized since police say he was assaulted in October has died.
Officers responded to the assault on Oak Street back on Oct. 3, 2023. They say they found a man, now identified as Matthew Gould, 61, unconscious with head trauma.
Another man was reportedly seen walking quickly away from the area following the alleged assault.
Police say Gould died on Feb. 20 and they are still investigating the case.
