Temple Ohev Sholom, on the 2300 block of North Front Street, received the threat by email around 9:30 a.m.
A bomb-sniffing police K-9 checked the synagogue but found no explosives. Police K-9s are also checking other Harrisburg synagogues as a precaution.
An initial investigation showed the same threat was emailed to 25 synagogues across Pennsylvania. Temple Ohev Sholom is the only Harrisburg synagogue to have received one of the threats.
Maisel couldn't discuss the other contents of the emailed threat.
All threats are treated as credible until proven otherwise, Maisel said. In this situation, he said police acted quickly and determined the threat was not credible.
