Poteet Strawberry Festival to kick off this weekend: Everything you need to know about the event

The festival provides scholarships for local students, raises money for area non-profits, and supports arts and crafts businesses, farmers and growers.

POTEET, Texas — The festival honoring the red and delicious strawberry returns to South Texas this weekend!

The Poteet Strawberry Festival will take place April 12-14 in Poteet, Texas. This is the festival's 77th year. Organizers say the festival is a big generator for the South Texas economy. An estimated $10-$12 million go back into Atascosa County and surrounding areas.

The festival also provides scholarships for local students, raises money for area non-profits, and supports arts and crafts businesses, farmers and growers.

What can I do at the festival?

In addition to food stalls, mostly featuring delicious strawberry-themed food and drinks, there is plenty more for the whole family at the festival, including:

  • Live fireworks

Who is playing?

Friday's lineup includes big names such as Marcos Orozco, Joe Nichols, Mario Flores and Gabe Garcia, and Mike Gonzalez & the Iconicz.

On Saturday you can catch iconic Tejano performers like Erick Y Massore, David Lee Garza, and Secretto. As well as other artists like Garrett Talamantes, Stoney Larue, Jerry DeLeon, and more.

Finally, performers set to perform on Sunday include Chris Cagle, Conjunto Cats, La Troupa Mayor, and more.

How much does it cost?

The most affordable time to go to the festival is on Friday night, which is KENS 5 Night! Admission is just $10 per person, if purchased online, and each ride will be $2 per ride, per eligible rider from 6 p.m. to midnight.

On Saturday and Sunday, admission will cost $20 per person, if purchased online, and gates will open from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. each day. Carnival wristbands will be available for $40 per person.

How do I get tickets?

You can buy tickets directly from the Poteet Strawberry Festival website at a discount. The price of admission increases by $5 each day if purchased at the gate. Get your tickets in advance to save money!
