In the aftermath of the case involving the murder of a missing Van Buren teen, the accused, who had pleaded guilty to murder, has died in prison. Officials confirmed that Lloyd Jones died of natural causes at the Tucker Unit in maximum security on Feb. 27.
Jones was sentenced to 60 years in prison following his guilty plea. Cecilia Reynolds, the mother of victim Angela Allen, expressed relief.
"She got justice, and now she can finally be able to rest in peace, knowing that her killer is behind bars for good," Reynolds said.
Angela Allen disappeared in February, prompting a widespread search effort. Jones emerged as a suspect, leading to his arrest in Sebastian County. Subsequently, Allen's body was discovered a week later.
During the court proceedings, both Seth Allen, Angela's younger brother, and Reynolds reminisced about her. Reynolds described Angela as "my angel looking down from above."
In discussions with 40/29 News, Angela's grandmother, Colleen Allen, reflected on the ordeal, expressing gratitude for the support received and relying on faith to navigate the pain of loss. Seth Allen acknowledged the closure brought by the conclusion of the legal proceedings yet emphasized the enduring sorrow over his sister's absence.
Friend Abigail Stultz remarked on the prevention of further harm.
"He'll never be able to do this to anyone else ever in his life again; harm any child, whatever it may be," Stultz said.
The judge ruled that the five counts against Jones would run concurrently with his 60-year sentence.
