BEATRICE – A possible tornado was detected in far northern Kansas into southern Franklin County, in Nebraska…early Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service says radar picked up a debris signature about 11 miles north of Athol, Kansas in Smith County….at around 1:54 a.m., lasting until about 2:05 a.m.

Thunderstorm wind gusts of 55-to-65 miles-per-hour have been estimated by weather spotters in southern Nebraska, with one gust clocked at 78-miles-per-hour, southwest of Nelson, Nebraska.

Quarter to half-dollar sized hail partly covered the ground in Edison, Nebraska, where windows were broken out of the south side of a home.  Far north-central Nebraska had hail up to golf-ball size.

In Kansas, a tornado was spotted near Eureka…..east of Wichita…..a report that came in at around 4:30 a.m.  The observation relayed by Greenwood County Emergency Management reported power flashes, associated with that tornado.
