Ex-Buckeye teacher accused of sexually abusing 15-year-old student
BUCKEYE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — A former Buckeye teacher is accused of having sex with a teen boy. On Wednesday, Buckeye police arrested 23-year-old Alyssa Todd.
Authorities say on Mar. 16, Todd’s husband called police, suspecting “inappropriate contact” between Todd and a 15-year-old boy at Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies High School where Todd was a teacher and athletic coach.
In arresting documents, Todd’s husband purportedly found handwritten notes in a bedroom dresser and noted that the letters were “sexual in nature.” He also reportedly found more messages on Todd’s laptop that suggested a sexual relationship was taking place.
During the course of the investigation, officers gathered evidence that the abuse happened on and off campus for roughly two months. Investigators then took Todd into custody at her Buckeye home on Wednesday where she allegedly admitted to lying in her first interview because she was “so scared.” She also reportedly told authorities that she told him that she would leave her husband for the victim.
Todd faces charges of luring a minor for sexual exploitation, sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual conduct with a minor.
This is the second reported incident at Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies High School. In Sept. 2023, 42-year-old Jessica Kramer was arrested for sex crimes involving a 17-year-old student.
In total, Buckeye police have arrested three women accused of having sex with underage students in less than a year. In Oct. 2023, Buckeye police also arrested 23-year-old Diana Pirvu for reportedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy at Imagine Schools.
