NEAR THAT BOBBY HOPPER TUNNEL, AND IT’S A TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT. AND THAT’S REALLY WHERE WE’RE SEEING THE MOST OF THAT CONGESTION. HERE’S A LIVE LOOK AT OUR TRAFFIC CAMERAS THIS NEAR MILE MARKER 39. SO A LITTLE BIT FURTHER AWAY FROM THAT ACCIDENT. BUT YOU CAN SEE THAT IT’S KIND OF YOU CAN SEE THOSE POLICE LIGHTS KIND OF OUT IN THE DISTANCE THERE. THIS IS THE CLOSEST CAMERA THAT WE HAVE. AGAIN THIS IS LOOKING NORTHBOUND BOUND ON INTERSTATE 49. NEAR THAT BOBBY HOPPER TUNNEL. AND HERE’S A LOOK AT THAT TRAFFIC AS YOU’RE LEAVING RUSSELLVILLE. SO IF YOU’VE TRAVELED TO RUSSELLVILLE TODAY OR TRAVELED INTO THE RIVER VALLEY TODAY, YOU’RE MOST LIKELY GOING TO IMPACT GOING TO COME ACROSS QUITE THE TRAFFIC IMPACT. IF YOU’RE HEADING HOME FROM WORK AT THIS TIME, GIVE YOURSELF A LITTLE BIT OF PATIENCE. Post-eclipse traffic began almost immediately in Arkansas. People began to hit the roads shortly after the minutes of totality ended Monday afternoon. Follow this link for an interactive traffic map.As a result, delays developed on Interstate 40 westbound and Interstate 49 northbound.There was a two-vehicle wreck on I-49 north of Mountainburg before 4 p.m.Fort Smith police were sent to help with westbound traffic into Oklahoma on Garrison Ave. ARDOT has asked people to stick around in Russellville or wherever they watched the eclipse for a few hours, to avoid packing the roads.
