MACON, Ga. (Gray News) – The body of a missing 13-year-old girl was found Sunday morning, according to Georgia authorities.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said Letia Green was last seen around 3 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday morning, deputies said they located Letia’s bicycle about a half mile from her home on Arch Helms Road in Macon, but still had not located her.

The sheriff’s office posted an update later in the afternoon, saying the 13-year-old’s body was found in a pond. Officials said there appeared to be no apparent signs of foul play, but are continuing to investigate.

The sheriff’s office is working with the coroner’s office to determine Letia’s cause of death.

Letia was a student at Sumter County Intermediate School in Americus.

The sheriff’s office is asking the community to help console Letia’s family and Sumter County Intermediate School family while they grieve her loss.
