SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio International Airport (SAT) surprised travelers Tuesday with an incredible Fiesta surprise.

Unsuspecting travelers were surprised by SAT’s own Fiesta parade to celebrate the San Antonio tradition!

Colorful floats passed through the beautifully decorated terminals, letting airport and airline employees compete against each other for prizes and bragging rights for best presentation.

The parade featured dancers and musicians and helped bring the Fiesta spirit to San Antonio’s Airport. A local celebrity served as Grand Marshal and three San Antonians served as celebrity judges.

“The airport always has a parade just before Fiesta starts,” said Jerry Guebard, SAIA Volunteer Ambassador. “And here we are with all the airlines and ambassadors. We’ll be marching through the terminal. Us ambassadors have fun anyway, and this just tops it off.”

“Unfortunately, we lost our station manager this year,” said Yolanda Garcia, an employee at Southwest Airlines. “So this year, we made our float in his honor, kind of celebrating his life.”

Fiesta will run from April 18 to April 28 in the Alamo City.
