SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Skeletal human remains were discovered at a house in Springfield, according to Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell.

The SCSO was called to a house in the 2100 block of South Grand Avenue East on Sunday afternoon after the homeowner found property that may have belonged to Michelle Bianco, who has been missing since 2008.

Bianco was last seen in this block, and Sheriff Campbell confirmed that the items did belong to Bianco. He could not say what they are or where they were found due to the investigation.

The Illinois State Police was contacted to help search the home and arrived Monday around 11:30 a.m. Investigators found human skeletal remains in the home.

There has been no identification of the remains, but the coroner will investigate on Tuesday.

The sheriff's office is working closely with the coroner's office, ISP, and the Sangamon County State's Attorney in this investigation.

The scene at the home is still secure and has not been turned back to the homeowner yet.
