A WOMAN WHO WAS INSIDE THE STORE WHEN GUNSHOTS ERUPTED. THE SHOOTING HAPPENED HERE SATURDAY AT THE FARM BOY CONVENIENCE STORE. A SUSPECT SHOT AND KILLED A MAN INSIDE. ONE WOMAN, WHO WAS ALSO INSIDE AT THE TIME OF THE SHOOTING, SAYS SHE HEARD IT ALL. GUNSHOTS WAS LIKE BO, YOU KNOW, ELLIE ROSE SAYS SHE WAS STANDING AT THE CASH REGISTER WHEN THE SHOOTING HAPPENED. ROSE SAYS SHE DIDN’T SEE WHO FIRED, INSTEAD IMMEDIATELY RUNNING FOR THE DOOR TO SAFETY. ON MONDAY, SHE FELT THE EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL TOLL OF IT ALL. IT’S LIKE MY WHOLE BODY FROM MY BACK, MY LEGS, MY HANDS ARE VERY SORE BECAUSE I HIT THE DOOR. ROSE MADE IT OUTSIDE TO SAFETY AND SAYS MOMENTS LATER, POLICE SURROUNDED THE BUILDING ON WEST OAK STREET I WAS RUNNING. I SEEN OTHER PEOPLE RUNNING AND, UM, SO THAT’S WHEN THE OFFICERS PULLED UP. ROSE SAYS SHE’S TIRED OF THE VIOLENCE BETWEEN FRIDAY AND SUNDAY. THERE WERE AT LEAST SEVEN OTHER PEOPLE SHOT IN INCIDENTS AROUND THE METRO, ACCORDING TO LOUISVILLE POLICE. SO FAR IN 2024, THERE HAVE BEEN 40 HOMICIDES, 35 VICTIMS WERE KILLED BY GUNFIRE ON EASTER WEEKEND, A TIME ROSE SAYS WAS MEANT TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER INSTEAD, TORE THEM APART. THIS SHOULD BE A MESSAGE FOR PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO RETHINK AND COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER AND COME TOGETHER, EVEN WITH THEIR FAMILY, THEIR CHILDREN’S, BECAUSE IT’LL BE IT CAN BE BETTER. THINGS CAN BE DONE BETTER. IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU AND HOW YOU COMMUNICATE. I WANT THEM TO KNOW THAT WE HAVE TO COME TOGETHER AND PROTECT OURSELVES AND OUR CHILDREN IN THIS WORLD. WHILE ROSE SAYS IT MAY BE A WHILE BEFORE SHE FEELS SAFE GOING TO THE STORE AGAIN, IT’S HER FAITH IN GOD THAT PROTECTS HER AND I DON’T FEAR NO ONE BUT HIM. AND I PRAY THAT HE GET CAUGHT UP. AND I PRAY THAT THE VIOLENCE

A man was shot and killed inside the Farm Boy Convenience Store in the Park Hill neighborhood on Saturday. As police are still searching for a suspect, a woman who was inside the store at the time of the shooting says she heard it all. Eleigh Rose was cashing out at the register when she heard loud pops. She immediately ran to the door. On Monday, she felt the emotional and physical toll of it all. "It's like my whole body, my back, my legs, my hands are very sore because I hit the door," said Rose. She's calling on the violence to stop, after at least seven people were shot between Friday and Sunday around the metro. In Louisville, there have been at least 40 homicides so far this year, with 35 victims killed by gunfire, according to the Louisville Metro Gun Violence Dashboard. "This should be a message for people to be able to rethink and communicate with each other and come together," she said. Police say a suspect allegedly fled the scene.The name and age of the victim have not been released.Anyone with information is asked to call the anonymous Crime Tip Hotline at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or use the online LMPD Crime Tip Portal.
