Jason Donavon and Dylan Alcott led the stars at the media call for The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Wednesday.

The pair were in character promoting the new season of the production which is playing at Sydney's Theatre Royal.

Jason Donovan has stepped back into the high heels of Frank-N-Furter in the iconic musical.

While Alcott, 33, plays the role of the narrator, from March 31 - April 17.

Comedian Peter Helliar will take over the role from the former wheelchair tennis star from April 18 through to the show's closing on May 5.

The production also stars Daniel Erbacher as Rocky, Deidre Khoo Janet and Blake Bowden as Brad.

The cast is completed by Stellar Perry, Henry Rollo, Darcey Eagle, Ellis Dolan, Josh Gates, Hollie James, Nicolas Van Litsenborgh, Erica Wild, Keane Fletcher and Seryan Burke-Low.

In costume, Jason looked edgy in a red corset and fishnet suspenders, along with a pair of stacked red high heels.

He completed the look in a set of pearls around his neck, dark black eye shadow and a painted pout.

Three-time Paralympic gold medalist Alcott opted for an all black ensemble along with a green fez-style hat.

Helliar looked dashing as he read from a book in a suit which featured a striking blue velvet blazer.

Written and created by Richard O'Brien, the Rocky Horror Show follows crazy transvestite scientist Dr Frank-N-Furter, who changes the life of a young couple for ever as they are encouraged to follow the message of one of the show’s most famous songs, Don’t Dream It, Be It.

It was made into a Hollywood movie starring Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon in 1975.

The show went on a 50th Anniversary tour of Australia last year.

Myf Warhurst, Joel Creasey and Nicholas Hammond all starred as the Narrator throughout the tour.
