Fountain Hills Steps Up Code Enforcement with Fines for Overgrown Vegetation Beginning May 5Source: Google Street View

The Town of Fountain Hills' Code Enforcement Division is issuing a clarion call for homeowners and commercial property owners to tackle the unkempt foliage on their properties head-on. According to the town's official announcement shared on April 16, those who let their yards go rogue with flora could see themselves on the business end of a correction notice from May 5 onward, as the crackdown on untamed greenery gets serious.

A tidy sum of up to $750 could be the price to pay for neglecting those weeds. Code Enforcement Officers, in a manner that has been described as confidential, friendly, and understanding, all in an effort to help property owners get back on the right track with their landscaping obligations.

Should a property owner fall short of the town's well-manicured standards, these enforcers are not to be seen as harbingers of punishment but rather as allies in the quest for order. "The officer will notify the property owner or tenant of the violation and will help them find a solution. The property owner or tenant will be given a reasonable amount of time to correct the violation(s). While most property owners or tenants comply after the first notification, those who do not receive additional notices," says the town’s official statement. Residents have the comfort of knowing they will be given "a reasonable amount of time" to correct their plant-based transgressions.

Engagement from the community is being championed by the town officials, encouraging locals to report their botanical concerns through a specialized service called Fountain Hills Connect. Questions and reports can be directed to the Code Enforcement staff by phone at 480-816-5193 or using the citizen portal; more details and the app itself can be found on the town's website, anyone can also step into Town Hall during its business-friendly hours of Monday through Thursday to strike up a conversation in person, and together.
