On Thursday evening, March 28th, the Rigby Lions Club announced the winners for their 2024 Patriotism Essay Contest. The 2024 Theme was “Together We Can.” More than fifty, one-page essays were submitted from Jefferson County fifth graders. The winners were: Kooper Madsen from South Fork Elementary; Josie Davis from Cottonwood Elementary, and Grant Orr from South Fork Elementary. The winners read their essays to an audience of family members, Lions, teachers and principals. Essay co-chairs Lions Sue Kenny and Gaylon Gneiting presented the winners certificates and cash prizes. The event was held at the Rigby Senior Center and ended with serving light refreshments.

These winning essays were submitted to the Lions District 39E Essay Contest. Word was just received that Kooper Madsen had won the third prize for best paper in Eastern Idaho. It will next be submitted and judged for the Lions MD 39 district prize for all Southern Idaho. Those essay winners will be honored in Sun Valley in early May.
