A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon completely covers the sun. These occurrences are very rare and can only be viewed from a relatively small area in the world. With that being the case, 87 students from Decatur City Schools — nine from Austin Junior High, 25 from Austin Middle and 53 from Decatur Middle — along with 10 parents and nine teachers made the trek to St. Louis to see the eclipse.
