A woman has wheeled a corpse into a bank and allegedly tried to get him to “sign off” a loan in her name in horror footage shared to X.

Bank employees at the bank branch in Bangu, in the western area of Rio de Janeiro, were very suspicious as the woman held his head up in front of staff. They questioned why he appeared so pale before alerting emergency services and filming the situation.

The footage showed the woman telling the man to grip his pen to sign the paper. Staff could be heard saying, “Uncle, are you listening? You have to sign it. I can’t sign for you.”

“I don’t think this is legal. He doesn’t look well. He’s very pale,” a concerned bank worker said.

The woman replied, “He’s like that,” and then turned to the deceased man and said, “If you’re not well, I can take you to hospital. Do you want to go back to the hospital again?”

The horrifying footage continued to show the man’s head swaying back and forth before she grabbed hold of his neck.

“Sign here and stop giving me a headache,” she said.

Shortly after, paramedics confirmed Paulo Roberto Braga, 68, had died a few hours earlier. Authorities have not yet released the cause of death of the man.

Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes, who had wheeled the deceased man into the bank, was arrested at the scene.

Local reports claimed the loan was for 17,000 Brazilian Reais, which is equivalent to about $5000 AUD.

Police chief Fabio Luiz confirmed the man was already dead prior to being wheeled into the bank.

“The investigation is continuing to identify other family members and to find out if he was alive when the loan was arranged and when it dates from,” he said.
