The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) officially opened its Talent & Training Accelerator this week, offering new programs for local manufacturers to upskill their workforce and ramp up their digital capabilities, the organization said.

The Talent & Training Accelerator, located at CCAT’s East Hartford headquarters, includes a variety of career development programs, most specifically related to digital thread and model-based definition education and adoption. Digital thread and model-based definition are examples of how manufacturers link data and information between digital models and tools and a physical product.

The Digital Thread Lab in the accelerator includes a 12-seat computing classroom and machine automation room for advanced manufacturing and automation-related training, CCAT said. There’s an additional nine-seat computing classroom elsewhere in the accelerator, in addition to other meeting space.

The lab in the Talent & Training Accelerator is a nationally designated hub for digital thread training, launched in partnership with the Department of Defense as a way to provide manufacturers with technical training to utilize data-driven digital capabilities, ultimately to meet the supply chain needs of the industry.

CCAT is partnering with Siemens, SolidWorks, MasterCam, Capvidia, Hexagon, PolyWorks, M3DI and other technology providers to equip the lab. Manufacturing employees interested in learning about eligibility requirements and courses offered can find out more information online.
