Ski Idaho announces winter ski area closing dates

The 2023/2024 ski season is coming to a close but keep that spring in your step! As winter activities wrap, seasonal summer fun begins at many of Idaho's resorts.

BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Ski Areas Association (Ski Idaho) announced the closing dates for Idaho's 19 recreational ski destinations on Wednesday. But don't sweat it! Because the winter wrap grooms the way for seasonal summer activities to begin.

To allow skiers and boarders one last rad rip on the slopes, Ski Idaho said the ski areas will close in phases.

A handful of ski destinations have already closed for the season. However, nine intend to remain open through April, according to Ski Idaho. Keep in mind that although a ski slope is technically open, standard daily operations may have already ceased.

Ski Idaho listed the expected closing date for following ski areas:

  • Closed for Season:
    • Bald Mountain (Pierce, ID)
    • Cottonwood Butte (Cottonwood, ID)
    • Little Ski Hill (McCall, ID)
    • Snowhaven (Grangeville, ID)
  • Open (subject to change):
    • Magic Mountain Resort (Kimberly, ID) -- March 23
    • Soldier Mountain (Fairfield, ID) -- March 23
    • Kelly Canyon Resort (Ririe, ID) -- March 30
    • Pebble Creek Ski Area (Inkom, ID) -- March 31
    • Rotarun (Hailey, ID) -- March 31
    • Pomerelle Mountain Resort (Albion, ID) -- April 6
    • Lost Trail Ski Area (Sula, MT) -- April 7
    • Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area (Boise, ID) -- April 14
    • Brundage Mountain Resort (McCall, ID) -- April 14
    • Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area (Mullan, ID) -- April 14
    • Schweitzer (Sandpoint, ID) -- April 14
    • Silver Mountain (Kellogg, ID) -- April 20
    • Grand Targhee Resort (Alta, WY) -- April 21
    • Sun Valley Resort (Sun Valley, ID) -- April 21
    • Tamarack Resort (Donnelly, ID) -- To be announced

Ski Idaho reminds recreationists that depending on weather conditions mother nature hopefully giving fanatics another round of snowfall -- closing dates may be subject to change.
