PLEASANT VALLEY, Iowa (KWQC) - The US Army Corps of Engineers held a ribbon cutting for a new motor shop at the Mississippi River Project Office in Pleasant Valley.

The 26,000 square foot shop will serve the 12 Lock and Dam site in the Rock Island district. They will also be able to assist other districts across the country.

“The work that’s done here and that will be done in this motor shop is right at the heart of solving that challenge,” said Col. Jesse T. Curry, USACE Rock Island District Commander.

The shop also includes space for welding operations, heavy equipment repairs and hazardous waste storage.
