AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating a deadly shooting in East Austin on Wednesday night.
APD said officers responded to the parking lot of the basketball court near 51st Street and Berkman Drive, in the Mueller area, just after 9 p.m. after reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives are currently conducting a death investigation, APD said. Police have not released any victim or suspect information at this time.
It's believed this was an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
