GBI identifies body found in backyard of Bainbridge home

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) - The body of a man found in the backyard of a Bainbridge home on Monday morning has been identified.

According to the GBI, 35-year-old Markeith Miller was found deceased behind a residence located in the 200 block of Sims Street.

Bainbridge Public Safety Chief Redell Walton says police received a tip about the dead body in someone’s backyard around 8:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Authorities report that Miller lived near the area where his body was located, but not at the exact address. Miller was also known to frequent the vicinity.

An autopsy has been scheduled at the GBI Crime Lab for Friday to determine the cause of death. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) asks anyone with information on this case to call the GBI Thomasville Office at 229-225-4090 or Bainbridge Public Safety at 229-248-2038.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
