Acclaimed BBC drama returning next month after rave reviews and two years off screens

AN acclaimed BBC drama series is due to make a comeback on screens following rave reviews after two years off screens.
The first season of the Scottish cop series was a BBC iPlayer favourite in 2022, racking up more than seven million streams.

Now, the second series of Granite Harbour, which centres around Lance Corporal Davis Lindo, a new recruit to Police Scotland who arrived in Aberdeen from Jamaica is back on screens in a few weeks.
Granite Harbour will debut on the BBC Scotland channel on Thursday 2nd May at 10pm, followed by BBC One on Friday 3rd May at 8pm.
All three episodes will drop on BBC iPlayer from Thursday, May 2, making them ripe for a binge.
In the first season, the new Detective Constable soon finds himself plunged into the headline-grabbing murder of a local oil magnate, who was found dead just as his company merged with a renewables firm.

Lance, alongside his mentor, DCI Lara "Bart" Bartlett - a razor-sharp, streetwise Aberdonian who is used to going solo - were tasked with finding the offender.
Filming on the new three-part series began in October 2023 and concluded shortly after.
The synopsis for the first episode of season two’s Granite Harbour reads: “When drug kingpin Grace McFadden’s notorious fixer turns up dead, the MIT have their work cut out to find the source of a new cocaine and ketamine compound flooding the streets.
"Fearing an impending drugs turf war is brewing, the team fight to uncover the truth.

“To complicate things, Lindo investigates the case of pregnant stowaway Mariam, who claims her partner was killed on their journey across the sea.
“At the dockside, Lindo and Bart’s suspicions are raised by the guarded behaviour of Captain Anders Nilsen and his protege Axel Berg from the Stolthet, a Norwegian cargo ship which recently arrived in Aberdeen.

“After complications and conflicts arise, DCI MacMillan pulls Lindo and Bart off the stowaway murder case.
“However, Lindo has other ideas, refusing to give up on his hunch the Stolthet’s crew are guilty of something sinister.
“With the drug investigation making slow progress, Monty and Mallick are further frustrated by the McFadden family’s unwillingness to cooperate.
“As the investigation pulls the team in different directions, Lindo faces an added complication when his estranged father, Grantley, arrives for a visit from Jamaica. However, it’s clear he’s got an agenda of his own.”

Starring alongside Romario in the forthcoming series is Hannah Donaldson as Bart, Dawn Steele as DCI MacMillan, Bhav Joshi as Mallick, Michelle Jeram as Monty, Patrick Robinson as Grantley, Lesley Hart as Grace McFadden, Afsaneh Dehrouyeh as Mariam, Søren Malling as Captain Anders Nilsen and Christopher Rygh as Axel Berg.
Sani Mamood, Sakuntala Ramanee, Sam Garioch, Layla Kirk, Kate Bracken, Melina Akermin Kvie and Alex Høgh Anderson will also be featuring in the new season.
Following the success of season one, Jamaica-born Romario said, "I'm delighted to be returning to Scotland to film season two of Granite Harbour.
"I'm looking forward to reuniting with the original cast and collaborating with some new creatives.
"It’s another opportunity to learn more about Aberdeen and take in some vital fresh air and open space."
Co-star Hannah added, "Growing up as an aspiring young actress in the northeast of Scotland, I didn’t often see the landscapes I recognised as home or hear the accents of my friends and family on screen.
"I’m very proud to be a small part of bringing Granite Harbour to life.
"Series two is an excellent opportunity for us to delve further into Bart and Lindo’s relationship and the dynamics of the team.
"I can’t wait to get my necktie on and get back to work with the North East Murder Investigation Team.”
