Suffolk based Otis Breading heading to Glastonbury 2024

Otis Breading was set up by Elouise Lavington and her husband after they purchased a horsebox in 2020. 

The business's name and tagline "Sandwiches with Soul" are inspired by Otis Reading, an American soul and blues singer and songwriter.

The duo spent 18 months converting the space with help from a friend who designed all of the vintage-style signage. 

It began trading in May 2022 and soon after won an award for a free pitch serving toasties at the Latitude Festival later that summer.

"We served more than 1,000 toasties a day," said Mrs Lavington. 

"It was somewhat chaotic but we were lucky to be mentored before it, so that was really helpful.

"I've worked in the hospitality industry since I was 12 so I just love the chaos."

Otis Breading focuses on serving toasties with good quality ingredients including sourdough bread, award-winning Suffolk cheeses and homemade pickles.

After a successful festival season last year, Otis Reading is heading to some of the major summer festivals this year.

The lineup includes returning to Latitude and heading to Download, Reading and Leeds Festival and Glastonbury Festival.  

Mrs Lavington explained the business could attend all of these events as winning the award for a free Latitude pitch last year meant there was enough profit to cover the deposit for festival spots. 

"We couldn't believe it when we got Glastonbury as we didn't think we would get it," she said. "We have never even been there before."

"Doing Glastonbury is a completely different level of organisation and with two kids on board this year, it will be all hands on deck."
