Missing Canon City man

The Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the Cañon City Police Department are searching for a man who they say went missing under suspicious circumstances back in September, according to a Friday morning CBI announcement.

Officials said 45-year-old Shawn Michael Dixon Sr., who was identified by officials as unhoused, was last seen Sept. 12 in the area of Rudd Park at about 7 p.m. getting out of a taxi near the intersection of Rudd Avenue and N. 11th St.

According to investigators, Dixon was allegedly supposed to meet his family that night at "Triangle Park," near the intersection of Hazel Avenue and College Avenue in Cañon City, but never arrived.

Officials with the CCPD said as of March 15 the department had exhausted all leads while interviewing "known associates" of Dixon and posting his disappearance to social media.

After determining Dixon might have been endangered at the time of his disappearance, the police department requested investigative assistance from CBI.

"Cases involving missing adults who are also homeless are both troubling and difficult to investigate. Individuals in this segment of society are at risk of so many challenges out there, and they often move quite frequently, blend into their communities effectively, and actively avoid contact with law enforcement for a variety of reasons," said John Schick, the police chief in Cañon City.

According to investigators, Dixon has dark brown hair and blue eyes, and is about 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. He also has multiple tattoos on each of his arms.

Anyone with information on the investigation or the whereabouts of Dixon is asked to call 720-254-1331.
