Shoshone Falls After Dark: 4th consecutive year, additional 2 weeks

Shoshone Falls will be illuminated in stunning colored lights for the fourth consecutive year. However, this year, the event will last twice as long...sort of.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — For the fourth consecutive year, Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls will be illuminated in stunning colors and thousands of LED lights - but this year, the event will run for the entire month of May, rather than the two weeks it is usually slated for.

On Tuesday, Southern Idaho Tourism announced that Shoshone Falls After Dark will return from Thursday to Sunday each week of May. However, although there will be twice as many shows, each show will last half the time.

Southern Idaho Tourism said due to high demand, the shows this year will be shorter than in previous years to "allow for more ticket sales because the event has a history of sell-out nights."

The tourism group said that each light show will last an approximate 10 minutes rather than the usual 20 minutes. Light shows will run on a loop, choreographed to music until roughly 10:30 p.m. each night.

"Shoshone Falls After Dark has quickly become one of the region's most popular events, and we're thrilled to expand it so even more people can experience this breathtaking spectacle," said marketing and event coordinator Haley Evans. "Shoshone Falls is one of Idaho's most iconic and beloved landmarks, and showering this magnificent high-desert landscape with a symphony of lights and music under the stars is truly magical and mesmerizing."

Dubbed the "Niagara of the West," Shoshone Falls is 36 feet higher than Niagara Falls, at 212 feet tall. Shoshone Falls after Dark will host its first show on May 2.

The well-known event is annually put on by Southern Idaho Tourism, Idaho Central Credit Union, Idaho Power and the City of Twin Falls.
