Today, the House Democratic Caucus commemorated the first Tuskegee Airmen Day, a day to show honor to Black veterans in our country.
The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American soldiers to successfully complete their training and enter the Army Air Corps. Almost 1,000 aviators were produced as America's first African American military pilots.
They worked hard during their service to desegregate the workforce for soldiers, and the U.S. House dedicated March 28 to preserve their legacy as Tuskegee Airmen Day.
In the midst of the commemoration, the caucus is still calling for state support with Medicaid expansion. This is a major issue for veterans. Study shows that Medicaid expansion helps veterans including VA and non-VA care.
