KENNETT, Mo. (KFVS) - The man accused of shooting another man in the parking lot of the Walmart in Kennett last year learned his fate from a judge.

According to Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Jain, 21-year-old Jaheim Feltus, of Kennett, pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon for shooting into a vehicle causing injury and was sentenced to 22 years in prison.

In a released statement, Jain said Feltus admitted to shooting a man who was inside a vehicle with his ex-girlfriend on March 8, 2023.

Shortly after the shooting, the victim was brought to the Kennett Police Department with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

He was flown to a hospital for treatment.

Jain said the victim survived.

When officers arrived at the shooting scene, Feltus reportedly drove off and eventually crashed into a stop sign, before running into a home where he was arrested.
