Closing arguments given in trial of man accused of killing 2 women in Farmington
The jury now has the case in the murder trial of a man accused of killing two women in Farmington.
Timothy Verrill is on trial for murder for the second time. The first ended in a mistrial in 2019 after state police failed to share some evidence with defense attorneys.
Prosecutors told jurors during closing arguments Wednesday they believe they have proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Verrill beat and stabbed Christine Sullivan and Jenna Pellagrini in 2017 and then hid their bodies under a porch.
Verrill's defense team told jurors they believed they had created doubt when it came to the state's theory of what happened and who was responsible.
During final instructions to jurors, the judge told them that the fact that Verrill didn't testify couldn't be used or considered in any way during the deliberations or in reaching their verdict.
