The nationally award-winning Youth Documentary Academy, based in Colorado Springs, presents two of its short films made by youth in partnership with professional filmmakers. Films were selected by students in District 38 from the PBS series “Our Time.” Two films, “After War” and “I choose You” chronicle personal stories about PTSD among veterans and international adoption and fostering, all told through the lens of young people.

Moderating Q&A and onstage conversations with the filmmakers and the audience is Cass Walton, executive director of Pikes Peak Suicide Prevention Partnership. A panel of students from Lewis-Palmer and Palmer Ridge high schools will follow, opening the door to conversations about mental health and social/emotional wellness in our communities.

Tri-Lakes SEW Coalition is a group of students, parents, community members, professionals, and agencies, who meet to foster youth social emotional wellness in the Tri-Lakes community.
