Double Dublin murder suspect has had previous run-ins with law enforcement

Jaswain Bell, 23, was also connected to two other shootings in 2017 and 2019.

DUBLIN, Ga. — Three people have been arrested and charged in early Sunday morning's double homicide. To recap, seven people were shot at a home in the 500 block of West Avenue. Two people were killed and four people were hospitalized.

Right now, Kyndall Brazeal, Jaswain Bell, and Quintez Mercer have all been arrested and charged. However, this isn't the first time Bell has had a run-in with law enforcement.

13WMAZ found two cases where Bell was allegedly involved in two shootings that we reported on. In 2017, we reported six teens were arrested after a shooting at a Wrightsville home. One of those arrested was then 16-year-old Jaswain Bell. He was facing charges including aggravated assault and possession of a firearm.

When 13WMAZ called the Johnson County Clerk of Courts to get an update on the case, the clerk told us the case was on the dead doc. When a case is on the dead doc that means prosecutors in the Dublin Judicial Circuit suspended the case until further notice. That does not mean the case is dismissed.

In 2019, Bell was also charged with murder in what Dublin Police called a drug deal turned fatal shooting. At the time, Bell was wounded in the case.

According to the Laurens County Superior Court Clerk's Office, Bell was never indicted and the case is still before the office of Dublin Circuit District Attorney Craig Fraser.

Last night, Bell was arrested on gang, aggravated assault, firearm possession, and felony murder charges. Two people were killed and several others wounded.

We have reached out to District Attorney Craig Fraser for updates on the 2017 and 2019 cases and he has not returned our calls.
