Two injured after stabbing ends in officer-involved shooting in Herndon

Two people and a dog are injured after a domestic-related stabbing led to an officer-involved shooting in Herndon, Va. Sunday, according to Herndon Police.

Officers responded to the 900 block of First Place around 11:54 a.m. after a person called 911 and reported that her husband stabbed her.

When the responding officer arrived on the scene, the man approached with a knife and the officer fired his gun, hitting the man in the upper body, officials said.

Both the husband and wife were taken to a hospital with critical injuries, according to officials.

The family’s dog also suffered stab wounds and was taken to an emergency vet clinic, officials said.

According to officials, the woman is in stable condition and the man is recovering.

The Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) is investigating the incident as is standard with officer-involved shootings.
