In commemoration of Texan icon Selena Quintanilla-Pérez's April 16th birthday, the Texas Historical Commission is extending an open invitation to fans and neighbors for a screening of the 1997 classic film "Selena."

The event, to be held at the French Legation State Historic Site, will open its gates at 6:00 PM, with the movie screening set to commence at 8:00 PM.

Prior to the screening, attendees will have the unique opportunity to delve into Selena's legacy through a showcase of archival footage.

This includes rare glimpses of Selena's concerts in Austin, auditions by young Texans for the film, and other memorabilia honoring the Queen of Tejano music and her profound contributions.

This outdoor screening is free and open to the public, offering a chance for all to celebrate Selena's life and enduring impact on the neighborhood, Texas, and beyond.

The evening's festivities will commence with a prescreening showcase of archival footage, which will provide a captivating insight into Selena's extraordinary journey and the creation of the iconic biopic.

Additionally, the ESB Mexican American Cultural Center will host a Selena paper doll activity, which will be available to all participants.

In collaboration with esteemed organizations such as the Texas Archive of the Moving Image and The University of Texas at Austin's Benson Latin American Collection, the event seeks to fully immerse attendees in Selena's world and celebrate her musical brilliance and cultural significance.

Adding to the celebration, local favorite Tamale Addiction will be onsite, offering their delectable tamales for purchase.

Guests can also enjoy beverages generously provided by Topo Chico and Coca-Cola, with Carabuena Tequila offering complimentary drinks for those aged 21 and up.
