Local Interstate 5 bridges will be reduced from three to two narrow lanes for months, and work on one near Woodland started this week.
Two months of construction was slated to begin Thursday on southbound I-5 Dike Access Road Bridge, just north of Woodland, to repave the area and replace damaged and broken expansion joints. The $4.7 million project is expected to be completed by early summer, reports a Washington State Department of Transportation notice.
In mid-May, two months of overnight work is set to begin on the I-5 North Fork Lewis River Bridge, located south of Woodland, to repave the bridge deck and repair expansion joints. The $17.5 million repairs should be finished in late summer, according to the transportation department.
Speed limits will also lower from 70 to 60 mph through the work zones and 45 mph along the bridges.
