Former New Hampshire man arrested after multiple robberies at churches in Maine, police say
A former New Hampshire man was arrested after multiple robberies at churches in Maine on Sunday morning, according to authorities. Maine State Police said Connor McGlone, 27, of Auburn, Maine, formerly of New Hampshire was arrested. He had three active warrants at the time, according to police.Around 10 a.m., a woman called 911 from a church parking lot in Parsonsfield, Maine saying a man, later identified as McGlone, threatened to kill her and referenced a gun but did not display it. Authorities said McGlone took off in a Silver Subaru and almost struck a pedestrian as he went east toward Cornish, Maine. Around 10:30 a.m., a Maine State Police trooper was flagged down in Cornish by someone who said a man pulled a gun on him in the parking lot of a church in town and demanded his wallet, state police said. "He went to these places of worship because that's where good-natured people go, that's where people who want to support and help others and support their communities, and I believe he chose these locations because these were the people most likely to give me what I need without having to bring violence," said Sgt. Daniel Hanson with Maine State Police.>> Download the free WMUR app to get updates on the go: Apple | Google Play << Maine State Police said around 11:20 a.m., it was reported McGlone entered a church in Baldwin, took money from the offering plate, and grabbed a woman's purse before leaving the church without showing the gun. Deputies with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office found the vehicle around 11:45 a.m. in Baldwin and began a pursuit, state police said. During the pursuit, McGlone was seen waving a gun inside the vehicle, authorities said. State police said McGlone intentionally swerved his vehicle at other vehicles on Route 107. The pursuit entered Bridgeton and a trooper was able to utilize a PIT maneuver before Bridgton Hospital, state police said.The vehicle went off the road and into a field, state police said. McGlone fled the vehicle but was quickly located and arrested. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and when he is released will be taken to York County Jail, state police said.State police said in addition to the warrants, McGlone was charged with two counts of robbery and additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
