2024 Secrest Summer Concert Series

Secrest Summer Concert Series

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The City of Zanesville has announced the lineup for the 2024 Secrest Summer Concert Series.

Zanesville Mayor Don Mason recounted how the series began in 2021 as a way for people to get out and experience freedom from all the Covid-19 isolation mandates. And now that it is entering into its 4th summer, it has turned The Downtown into a Thursday night destination.

“And I’ve really tried to make it so we can get some music for… I’ll use the word, younger people,” Mason said. “The first year, I’d say most of the people going to our concerts were above the age of 50, which is wonderful. I was happy to get everyone out but then as you noted, we’ve tried to freshen up the tunes we bring so that we can get some people in their late 20s, 30s, and of course 40s to come.”

Mason noted the restrooms along with the beverage and vendor tents have been repositioned to accommodate the larger crowds and improve the overall experience.

“We have what’s called a DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) District,  so you can buy a beverage at one of the downtown restaurants and you know, walk to the concert,” Mason said. “You can walk from the restaurant if you decide to eat before. And if you’re leaving the concert, again the same rules apply. You’re allowed to walk to a restaurant with your beverage. Again, we’re in a DORA District and we’re just looking forward to trying to create, again, downtown Zanesville as an attraction for Southeast Ohio and Muskingum County, of course.”

Mason added that the outdoor concerts draw between 2,500 and 4,000 people to The Downtown and finishes early enough for concert goers to visit nearby restaurants. He also mentioned that only once have the concerts needed to be moved indoors.
