The Graham Humane Society of Young County is set to play host as one of the stops on the Jordan’s Way 50-state national tour to raise funds for animal shelters and rescues.

Kris Rotonda, founder of Jordan’s Way, will be in Graham from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 18 for a live event that will include games, challenges and other festivities to help raise funds and awareness. The event will be streamed live on the Graham Humane Society of Young County Facebook page.

Rotonda created Jordan’s Way after the passing of his dog, Jordan, who had spent the first three and a half years of her life getting overlooked in a shelter. Rotonda and Jordan spent 11 years together before she died of cancer. Since then, he has worked to help raise awareness for the animals and raise much needed money for the organizations.

The Jordan’s Way tour has highlighted these shelters and rescues through his work with dogs. Each stop on the tour is a unique opportunity for Rotonda to showcase the true character of the dogs in the shelter and raise funds for that organization.

Donations can be made by going to the Graham Humane Society of Young County Facebook page, selecting the tab “Fundraiser” and selecting the “Jordan’s Way” fundraiser. Donations can be made at any time leading up to and during the live event, and the fundraiser will be open for a week after the event, as well.

In a press release, Rotonda shared the reasoning behind the creation of this national tour for the charity.

“No animal should have to spend their life in a shelter, and I am passionate to highlight and support the many organizations across our country who work relentlessly to ensure these pets find loving homes, despite their age, breed, or health issues. Each stop on the Jordan’s Way tour offers the ability to bring awareness to the importance of the saying ‘Adopt, Don’t Shop’ to an entirely new community.”

Rotonda first began the nationwide tour in 2021 and since then, he has helped raise $8 million for shelters and rescues across the United States.
