The Pinellas Park Police Department has located the vehicle they say fatally struck a 36-year-old St. Petersburg man on Sunday. They are still seeking the public’s help in finding the driver.

Michael Vilaysack’s body was discovered in the ditch line along 62nd Avenue North in Pinellas Park around 9 a.m. Sunday.

In a news release Tuesday, the police department said investigators have made “significant progress” in the case, including by finding the suspect vehicle. Police previously said they were searching for a gray Hyundai Accent manufactured between 2018 and 2022 with significant damage on its passenger side, including a missing side mirror.

Police are still working to identify the driver who fled the scene of the crash.

The police department is asking anyone with information to call 727-369-7864 and reference case number 2024-18244. Those seeking to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-873-8477.
