Four newborn puppies found inside Appomattox dumpster

APPOMATTOX, Va. (WDBJ) - Four newborn puppies were found inside a dumpster in Appomattox on Monday.

According to Appomattox Animal Control, a construction worker heard the animals’ cries and found the puppies inside dog food bag within a dumpster on Liberty Chapel Road.

The puppies did not sustain any injuries and are considered healthy, according to Animal Control.

The dogs are presumed to have been born on Sunday, April 21 and their breed is suspected to be a Hound Dog. The animals are arranged to live in a long-term foster home, Animal Control says.

There are no suspects at this time and anyone with information is asked to contact Appomattox Animal Control at 434-352-7622.

The incident remains under investigation.
