WINTHROP, Iowa (KWWL) - The Iowa DCI is helping the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office investigate a shooting Saturday morning.
The Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Buchanan County Health Center around 9 a.m. that a man was in their ER with a gunshot wound. He had been taken to the center after being shot at a home in Winthrop along West 220th Street.
Deputies determined that the victim was shot in the abdomen and was later transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for further treatment. His current condition is unknown at this time.Â
The incident put the health center on a precautionary lockdown for about an hour. Due to not all involved parties being accounted for at the time.
The incident remains under investigation but police have determined it was an isolated incident and there's no threat to the public.
The victim's name has not been released.
