DARBOY, Wis. (WBAY) - Dozens of people Saturday came out to Mr. Brew’s Taphouse to donate blood to help and support everyone in the community.

The second annual “Our Rayne of Sunshine” blood drive was held to honor five-year-old Rayne Hetherington who is battling leukemia. The blood drive was in collaboration with The Community Blood Center in Appleton.

Rayne was diagnosed with leukemia in April of 2022 at the age of three.

Before she could even begin chemotherapy, Rayne needed blood transfusions. Since then, she has continued to receive multiple blood, platelet, and plasma transfusions. She will likely need more as she continues her treatment.

Saturday’s event celebrated Rayne and how far she has come since her diagnosis and, show support to the community just as they have continued to support Rayne and her family during this fight.

In addition to the blood drive, the event included a raffle fundraiser with several different baskets to bid on.

All proceeds will benefit Families of Children with Cancer, a local nonprofit founded by parents and healthcare professionals to support those affected by cancer.
