A trial date has been rescheduled for a man accused of beating a homeless man to death last year in Kalispell.
Kaleb E. Fleck is facing one felony deliberate homicide charge in connection to the murder of 60-year-old Scott Bryan, a houseless man. Fleck previously pleaded not guilty to the charge. Bryan was found by local authorities face down with significant face and head wounds outside of a Kalispell gas station in June of 2023.
Fleck’s trial, originally scheduled for June of 2024, is now set to start on Nov. 12, 2024, recent Flathead County court filings show.
Court documents state that in the early morning hours of June 25, 2023, Kalispell authorities transported Bryan to a local hospital after they found him with injuries. He died a short time later. Bryan’s death sent shockwaves through people in the Flathead who work with the community’s houseless population. They described Bryan as an easygoing, peaceful friend to those who knew him.

A witness showed authorities a video. In it, the camera pans between a man, identified in court documents as Fleck, and Bryan’s body, with a man in the background saying, “You f----ed that guy up dude,” the case affidavit alleges.
His defense attorney, Kalispell lawyer Sean Hinchey, filed a motion last month to continue the trial. Hinchey wrote that he needed more time for witness interviews, to obtain “additional significant discovery,” and prepare the case for trial.
Daniel Guzynski, Special Deputy Flathead County Attorney, is prosecuting the case for the state.
A known Flathead-area white supremacist posted bail for Fleck shortly after Fleck was charged. A property bond document filed in the case shows Zachariah R. Harp put up a $500,000 surety, tied to a Kalispell residence, for Fleck’s release from jail. Harp was the subject of a 2010 report by the Montana Human Rights Network detailing his ties to white supremacist activity in the Flathead area.
