Weirton police investigating apparent murder-suicide

WEIRTON — Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after responding to a call of a shooting in the city early Saturday.

According to information provided by Weirton Police Chief Charlie Kush, law enforcement officers were dispatched to 249 Miami Ave. at approximately 12:20 a.m. Saturday with a report of a shooting within the residence.

Upon entering, officers discovered the bodies of Jordan Bettino, 25, and Zoe Antoniou, 26. Both were found with gunshot wounds, according to the report.

A third female, Desiree McDiffitt, 30, was transported by ambulance for medical treatment. According to social media posts by family members, McDiffitt was in stable condition in a Pittsburgh-area hospital.

The suspect in the shootings, identified by police as Brennan Bailey, 33, also was found deceased in the house from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The investigation is continuing, with the Weirton Police Department assisted by the West Virginia State Police, Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, Weirton Fire Department and Hancock County Ambulance Service.
