This encompassed Foxtrot's total of 33 stores nationwide, alongside Dom’s two venues. The closures in Austin included prominent spots like Burnet Road and Guadalupe Street, as reported by KXAN.

Amid the closures, Foxtrot and Dom’s released a statement to the public, "It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you of a difficult decision we have had to make. After much consideration and evaluation, we regret to announce that Foxtrot and Dom’s Kitchen & Market will be closing their doors starting on April 23, 2024," the companies lamented, according to KXAN. An employee at one of the Austin Foxtrot stores revealed they had indeed received an email that morning with the grim news, coupled with an FAQ on their eventual compensation.

The unexpected closures follow what was a promising expansion, beginning with Foxtrot’s first store in 2014 in Chicago, and the upscale market, Dom’s, inaugurating in 2021. The combined entity touted itself on selling and delivering locally sourced foods, cultivating a solid base of regular customers, as detailed by My San Antonio. On social media, Foxtrot Market's Instagram announcement of discontinuing its operations engendered a swift backlash from the public.
