Arizona weather forecast: Dry, windy and warm is the theme for this week

It'll be a hot, breezy week ahead with a few showers over our higher elevations in northern and eastern Arizona.

Two storm systems are impacting our forecast. One low pressure center is spinning to the northeast of Arizona. It is moving through the Midwest but has an expansive reach, bringing lingering moisture and breezy conditions to our region. At the same time, a new weak area of low pressure is spinning over the Pacific Ocean outside of Southern California. That system will continue to slide our direction the next few days, bringing continue high-elevation moisture and breezy weather to the state.

Monday hit 100° in the Valley. This was the third time this year we hit 100° or hotter. But, several more triple digit days are in the immediate forecast.

While the average high is 93° on Tuesday, the forecast high is 100°. Gusts will be up to 20-25 mph with a sunny sky. In the High Country, rain chances around 20-30% are forecast on Tuesday.

By Wednesday, the storm system from the southwest approaches to our south. Rain chances in northern and eastern Arizona increase to 30-40% with dry weather in the Valley. Phoenix will stay just below 100°, with a forecast of 97° and mostly sunny on Wednesday. Thursday won't be much different with a high of 98° expected in the Valley.

Again, winds will gust up to around 20 mph Wednesday and 20-25 mph Thursday.

By Friday, rain chances will dry up. Everyone is heating up, too!

A ridge of high pressure will press forecast highs to around 101° Friday, 103° Saturday and 102° Sunday in Phoenix. All three days will be dry and a touch breezy.
